K&R means kick and recommend. The way you kick a post is simply to post in it. That automatically "kicks" the post back up to the top of the page. A simple recommendation won't do that.

You can recommend a post by clicking on the box that says "DU recommend".

I don't know how you put images in your sig line, but hopefully someone who does will come along to answer that one!
