It's been quite a weekend for Hillary's two top surrogates, Bill and Chelsea [View all]

First, Bill gives one of the most bizarre speeches of this cycle:

Bill Clinton tells rally in Tennessee: 'We are all mixed-race people'

Bill Clinton has risked inflaming the Democratic primary’s current debate over race, telling a rally in support of his wife in Tennessee that everyone has some African ancestry.

“Unless your ancestors, every one of you, are 100%, 100% from sub-Saharan Africa, we are all mixed-race people,” the former president told a crowd in Memphis on Friday.

Then, Chelsea says it's irresponsible to call for an end to the mass incarceration her parents helped to create and vastly expand:

Chelsea Clinton: Bernie Sanders’ plan to end mass incarceration is ‘worrying'

Speaking to a packed town hall in Cleveland, Ohio, Chelsea Clinton took the opportunity to denounce Senator Sanders’ proposed criminal justice reforms when she was asked about her mother’s “vagaries” towards African American policy.

She replied that Senator Sanders advocated the end of mass incarceration, aiming for the US to no longer be the country with the highest number of people in jail by the end of his first term in 2020 - but his plan "worried" her.

At this point, the only larger faux pas would be for one of them to say, "I don't see color, I see people." It's almost as if a wealthy former first family who depend on big money interests for their continued existence could be out of touch with the majority of the country.
