(5,400 posts)The "referees" to the presidential race may be self appointed, uninformed, biased, and even actively grinding a partisan axe. But some of them do carry weight with the electorate, and woe to the campaign that ignores that. Had her remarks been directed at Sanders then we too would be up in arms. Obviously we'd disagree, and we'd point out where they were wrong.
It likely would even be helpful to speak of how she was misinformed and/or biased. It possibly would also help to go into how she was (or wasn't) representative of her peers.
But at the end of the day it's a foolish campaign that operates under the assumption that these self appointed referees carry no weight. Secretary Clinton and her team aren't fools and they too will note these remarks (along with others, positive and negative), and take them into account. Does anyone doubt that?
Having said that, yeah, I agree that anything one of these "referees" says is deserving of a qualifier.
