not by what others think of him. Compassion is a key to insight and wisdom. If you find yourself losing patience and being overwhelmed with frustration, your energy is focused on making judgments and comparisons (better/worse, superior/inferior, right/wrong etc.) If you are rooted in compassion, you don't get 'pulled down' by others' negativity/problems.
