(687 posts)I joined this Board in 2004 when friends from other boards suggested it to me. At the time, opposition to the Iraq War and what was then called The Bush Doctrine was why I was posting.
The Bush Doctrine as a term is not used by the President or Secretary Clinton, but it is now our national security policy. It is an explicit repudiation of Deterrence, which was the bi-partisan consensus that won the Cold War. Deterrence is now down the Memory Hole, and the idea of the USA using its supposed "power" to change regimes that displease our leaders is the new Normal.
Hillary supporters on this very board say that since Hillary "apologized" for her vote on the Iraq War Resolution, we are assholes to hold it against her. And of course they remain in stone cold silence about Hillary's expressed desire to change the regime in Syria and to expand NATO to Ukraine and Georgia. None of that is supposed to matter -- we are just being purists or otherwise shitheads to even question the Foreign Policy Experience of Mrs. C.
To them, war forever is the New Normal. And in that New Normalcy, there will never be affordable education or nationally financed health care.
I have no desire to talk to these people about anything. They are my political opponents.
Have a nice life, DU. I'll be gone, too, as soon as loyalty to the War Forever candidate is a condition of membership.
