One of the biggest problems I have when trying to discuss the issues that face our citizenry with our friends on the right is their apparent willingness to ignore facts that run contrary to their ideology. I hear progressives repeat this complaint often. We scratch our heads and wonder why despite any proofs we offer up they continue to vote against their own self interest.

It has been my observation this past week that our friends on the right aren't the only ones suffering from this phenomenon. Bernie Sanders is offering to lead us against the very thing that most here at DU can plainly see is destroying our democracy. If all other matters facing the citizenry can best be resolved with the tools of a restored democracy, I see no reason why we shouldn't take Mr. Sanders up on his offer.
