Bernie Sanders

(9,126 posts)I talked about a twitter campaign they are trying to start on reddit to tweet Warren. There are also some strategic things that need to be taken into consideration. That groan from some quarters when Clinton announced, of people thinking they would have to hold their noses and vote, has now been replaced by a broad grin and a sigh of relief.
Strictly speaking, she isn't new and she isn't fresh. She can't change her image too much without seeming to be completely disingenous. Bernie gets to share his ideas with a whole new crowd and sound like a breath of fresh air. I'm banking that combined with the disappointment in the current administration and the boiling frustration and discontent in this country that his ideas will be well received. I think O'Malley will shave some anti-Clinton voters, and hope Bernie can hang in there just like Obama did until Edwards dropped out.
I think the biggest danger comes from the corporations, Wall St, and the party itself. Our self-proclaimed DU "resident 1%er"/Party Mandarin assures me that even though Obama campaigned and won as a raging liberal he is nothing like Bernie because he had secured "financial and political commitments" before he ran. (And those "commitments" were the only explanation (i.e Occam's Razor) for his actions which were often diametrically opposed to his words.) But he is saying that Bernie hasn't hooked into the power brokers, super delegates, and kingmakers of the party while at the same time assuring me that the party won't interfere. As we know from the situtation with Blanche Lincoln, etc. that couldn't be further from the truth. HRC is the chosen candidate because she can make sure all those consultants and media companies get as fat as a tick.
People are still afraid he can't win and so are withholding support. That is the first place to attack, make sure people know he CAN win. Then I think he will get on board. I made this thread that sank but it still makes a strong argument for how he can do it in the general. I think it's very important information for people to know that supporting the candidate they REALLY want does not equal a Republican president.
