And I don't think that this is 'cause Bernie's some kind of phenom...

There we disagree. He has done unprecedented things on his own.

It's simply that he speaks the truth, and the truth is very popular.

Again, we just disagree. The truth is often very unpopular. You need look no further than this board to confirm that. I can name many people who tell the truth who range from homeless to, even with party backing, forced out of Congress. Moreover, if every indie willing to speak the truth could, just by speaking the truth, do what Bernie has done, Congress would look very different than it does.

As an Indie, Bernie defeated a single candidate backed by both parties to remain Mayor. Then he won a district on his own, against a Republican and a Democrat, without a fortune of his own or huge donations. As a Congressional newbie, he formed the Progressive Caucus and built it to about 100 members. Then he won a Senate seat on his own. Not only that, but he got Democrats to stop running candidates for the Senate against him, became the longest serving Indie in the history of the US Congress. He's gotten amendments and laws passed. He is now running as a Democrat in the Democratic primary and finally forcing media people who acted as though his candidacy did not exist to start writing raving about his events. And he's done it despite everyone, including unreal disruptions. And those are only some of the highlights.

In my view, he is a phenom.
