People who are more laid back are several months behind in their perception of how well the Sanders campaign is doing. In other words, they aren't aware that he's a real choice. (as are a few others)
If all I had to choose from was the extraordinarily well funded, and well staffed, campaign of HRC, and that of some starry eyed hopefuls with barely enough money to rent an office, I might figure HRC had it in the bag and was our logical choice.
This is where the debates are important. Everyone on stage as equals and selling themselves. This is part of why HRC loyalist DWS is is inclined to delay the debates.

"A candidate of passion" is an interesting way to describe the Sanders campaign.
