(42,649 posts)But I did talk to a friend of mine this morning and mentioned the Sanders booth in McHenry county. My friend mentioned that he had been in Dupage County (in the Chicago area) on Saturday. Dupage County is an area that, like McHenry County, generally trends Republican.
My friend mentioned that Sanders was one of the topics of conversation. He said that people were talking about his (Sanders) common sense ideas. He mentioned that there was enthusiasm there also.
I know that one meme at DU is that Sanders also appeals to likely or presumptive GOP voters. This appeal is framed as a negative by some at DU, but my feeling is that this polling shows that Sanders economic populism appeals to people on both sides of the political spectrum. This "cross political" appeal is actually a strength, not a weakness. In my opinion, of course.
PS. I forgot to mention that my friend and his brother both donated $100 to the Sanders campaign and are interested in volunteer work. I promised to let him know when I saw any news about Sanders and his organization. When I do see something on DU I will send him a link.
