53. Have you ever been dragged through a Texas Bull Nettle?

Fire Ants are a scourge here in Arkansas,
and I have no love for them,
but I'll take them to the Bull Nettle whose little spikes can stay under the skin for days or weeks.
Now, if we make the choice between a Rattle Snake or a Bull Nettle,
I'll take the Nettle, but just barely.

You are correct about Fire Ants somehow know to cover their victim before the Head Ant gives the order for everybody to sting at once.

Odd Fact:
Our weather has been so non-normal this year that we have NO Fire Ants...not a single mound.
No mosquitoes and few flying bugs either.
We can leave an outside light on at night without a cloud of bugs.
Our Bee Colonies seem OK,
but the lack of bugs this year scares me somewhat.
Never seen this before.

I hope all the Fire Ants just decided to go home.
