(Allegedly from Bill...)

C***** --

I haven't written to you yet during this election, but today's too important to stay on the sidelines.

Hillary's campaign has a major fundraising deadline tonight, and she needs your help. Will you donate what you can before midnight?

A quick story:

When I met Hillary a long time ago, she was one of just 27 women in her graduating class in law school, and she was a star. When she graduated, she had lucrative job offers. But she decided not to go to a big firm in D.C. or New York.

Instead, Hillary went to work for the Children's Defense Fund, going door to door to collect stories about the lack of schooling for children with disabilities. Those stories helped push forward historic legislation requiring us to do a better job educating the kids who need our help the most.

I've watched Hillary for more than forty years. She doesn't do things for the title, the pay, or the accolades. Hillary takes on fights because she cares about the people she could help if she wins -- the working families, women, and children who could do so much better with even a little support.

That's the kind of president she'll be. But she'll only get a chance to show it if we stand with her today.

Hillary needs us more than ever right now. That's why I'm asking you to donate $1 or more before midnight and stand with her.
Thanks,

Bill Clinton

My response:

Bill:

During your administration, you made decisions that have had a critical impact on my financial status. I am poorer than I’ve ever been in my life, thanks in part to your decision re: Glass-Steagall. As a consequence of my dire financial status, I cannot contribute to your wife’s campaign.

Besides, I’m supporting Bernie Sanders, because he isn’t in bed with the corporate megalomaniacs who’ve usurped our media, our politics, AND our global economy.

MOST sincerely,
C***** *******

But, that's not ALL, folks:

Hello! Thanks for reaching out to the campaign. To ensure your message reaches the appropriate member of our team, please visit our website and fill out the form at www.hillaryclinton.com/contact. We look forward to hearing from you!

All the best,

Hillary for America

I find it surprising that such an erudite person (Bill) would use a conjunction ("today's&quot in his opening sentence. Does it sound folksy and personal? Notice the personal plea: "she needs your help." (Sorry, Hillary, no can do...) I am not 'buying' the folksy, "aw, shucks" tone from Bill, and I'm NOT supporting ANY corporate megalomaniacs.

I know that a campaign lackey will be the one who reads my response (if it gets read at all), but I am more than happy to pass on the fact that I'm supporting Sanders.

Go, Bernie!!!

Edited to add:

Responding to the initial "Hillary for America" email has opened the floodgates. When I unsubscribed, I got a webpage that asks "Can you stick around?" and plays a 4:56 minute campaign ad for Hillary.

Again: GO, BERNIE!!!
