(11,945 posts)rather than anything "personal, abusive, hurtful, over the top" etc. It's almost as if certain words, perfectly good English words, cannot be used. There should be a list so we all can know. I can be a little slow but have noticed that "concern" is sometimes a euphemism. Also "bridge." But it's okay to swear like a sailor here.
In fact, some sites have (or had) software that scanned comments for certain words, phrases, or combinations of words and rejected the entire comment outright, regardless of what it was saying. A friend and I used to test Huffington Post for those, back when they used such a system. For instance, for a while there you could not use the words "Hillary" and "hedge fund" in the same comment -- didn't matter what you were talking about. You also could not use the words "cow" and "fat" in the same comment; again, didn't matter what the comment was saying. And there were scores if not hundreds of other common words to avoid. It was an ugly system.
Well, I don't want to go any further off topic, though it's an interesting subject.
