(1,145 posts)were part of the corporate-friendly, right-wing/liberal push to move the Democratic Party towards the right and away from its core of supporters and the issues they care about.
My first presidential vote was for Bill Clinton in '92, and I've voted for Democrats (albeit holding my nose the entire way) ever since, but the leadership of the party has had a long love affair with corporate America and their insatiable quest for more profits at the expense of the middle/lower classes and their well-being. I couldn't believe that Hillary had the audacity to stand in front of everyone at the first debate and claim that she's a "progressive" - I almost threw up every meal I'd eaten that day. She will truly say anything to us because she fundamentally thinks we're stupid.
The right-wing Democrats are trying to say Bernie's too far to the left to win a general election, but I believe he stands a MUCH greater chance than Hillary because his ideals and principles are ones that will fundamentally appeal to the majority of American voters (and if he's running against Donald Trump, there will be no contest). Hillary is despised by Republicans, despised by a significant majority of Democrats, and she inspires no excitement among the electorate (the main reason Obama beat her).
Thank you for post - the Democratic Party is long overdue for some soul-searching as to its true principles, and it needs to reestablish itself as a distinct political opposite to what the Republicans want (and with the Clinton/Obama people in charge, there isn't much "opposite" there except on social issues).
