No one can say he benefited from excessive media coverage. The mainstream media have tried to ignore his campaign. Turns out, the people filling all those venues across the country are there, in the flesh, with ears to hear.

The media could have covered those events more fairly if they'd wanted to. Clearly, they didn't cover them, and clearly it's because they didn't want to. Or were told not to by the very wealthy conservative corporate-types who own media entities.

At this point in his career, Bernie Sanders did not have to seek a national debate on any issue. But he has, and quite a few people are hearing him loud and clear.

He's earned those gains because quite a few people heard what he said. They'd been waiting to hear it a long time.
