It is a competition after all. Campaigns are a vetting process and it makes sense to be thorough. It was our good fortune that Obama came along and eclipsed John Edwards in 2008.
Thinking and talking about what we like and don't like about candidates is what elections are about.
There's no need to be conspiratorial or assume malicious motives.
