(12,536 posts)She came through a public ordeal, was pilloried and humiliated. If anyone owes her an apology it's Clarence Thomas and the Republicans who were quite willing to paint her in the worst possible light and dismiss the harassment she'd already experienced.
I don't agree that if Joe Biden had been a stronger advocate, the MeToo movement would have been ignited then, instead of now. Twenty-eight years ago was a different era with a different mindset regarding women and sexual harassment in the workplace. It just was. In fact, it was a subject people rarely talked about. Anita Hill's testimony gave life to an understanding that this gross behavior went across the board. Didn't matter who you were, how well educated or well spoken you were, if you were a woman you could easily be a target, have your own reputation and career threatened and/or sullied by any man on a power trip.
As for what she's doing now speaking out, basically bashing Biden? Again, she's entitled to her anger. Regardless of what she says or does, she'll continue to be a standard-bearer for all working women, someone who sacrificed her own privacy to say: Enough. This was a gross violation of my personhood. It was wrong.
That's why women believed her in the first place. That, and many had experienced the same damn thing.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
