(58,785 posts)Of all our crises, I believe, as experts around the planet do, the RW threat to our 250-year-old democracy is easily most imminent and serious. If it is to survive, a certain percentage of conservative voters will have to renounce the increasingly fascistic goals fronted by the Republican leadership in favor of commitment to the America we all grew up in. Enough to overcome the advantages of the electoral college and corruption of elections.
Biden's promising to do what a president can to help to form a majority to stand against the RW extremists acting through the Republicans in government.
He's not my favorite ideologically, I've always been well left of him, but I believe the statesmanlike but familiar and easygoing, all-American sort of warm fuzzies he projects is a big reason for favoring him. So far most of the others have been talking liberal and progressive policies as if there were no grave danger that absolutely none of them would be enacted by a fascistic RW government, and I was waiting and hoping Biden would use his stature to address America's identity and future. And he is.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
