I don't know about Mrs. Rodriguez's personal circumstances, but even if she had been in the most favorable circumstance (married to a U.S. citizen and meeting the residency requirements) and it took only six months from the date she applied to taking the oath with all of the steps along the pathway aligned perfectly with minimal delays, then it still would have meant that she filed the application in March 2015. That means that Bernie's candidacy was not central to her filing the application because Bernie had not announced his intentions and that there were other factors that influenced her to apply for citizenship as you mentioned.

However, in the statement that I highlighted Rodriguez is conflating her citizenship with her support for Bernie. In that case someone might ask did she swear a oath of allegiance to the U.S. or did she swear an oath of allegiance to Bernie? Considering that she was previously from Bolivia which is run by a socialist president, does it mean that she supports the current political, social, and economic status of the U.S. or does she want to change the U.S. so that it is more like Bolivia?

Rodriguez's own statement provides the ammunition for people to question her loyalty:

If I picked up on the inconsistencies in what was reported in the article as a lifelong Democrat, then imagine how that statement would get twisted and amplified by right-wing zealots in their anti-immigrant fervor. Mrs. Rodriguez created a credibility problem with her statements and she may have created a legal problem for herself if she lied when taking the oath of allegiance to the United States.

If Mrs. Rodriguez stated that she was a naturalized citizen and that she supported Bernie Sanders, then there wouldn't be an issue--she has the right to vote for whomever she chooses. However, when she links her decision to apply for citizenship based upon a candidacy that Bernie hadn't announced yet, then it raises questions--no crystal ball required.
