For starters, there's environmental racism.

Secondly, the Republican Party's viability depends upon racism and sexism. And the Republican Party, more than any other institution, stands in the way of addressing climate change and environmental degradation. It's not right wing environmental policy or health care policy or economic policy or foreign policy that maintains the Republican Party. It's the fomentation and exploitation of racism and sexism, which drives people to oppose liberal policies even as a clear majority of people - when asked direct questions about policy - express support for (very) liberal positions.

Racism and sexism are very potent drugs to which millions are addicted. It is vital that we address the disease by prioritizing efforts to eliminate systemic racism and systemic sexism. Shying away from anti-racism and anti-sexism is a serious mistake. This is why it's so misguided to dismiss identity politics and to claim classism rules. The maintenance and furtherance of economic disparities (as well as the disregard for environmental degradation) depends upon racism and sexism.

If I were to vote in a presidential
