The history of the former vice presidents favorite line.

Folks, this is not your fathers Republican Party, 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden likes to say when hes actually on the campaign trail these days.
Its a familiar line ― paraphrased from your fathers ad industry ― that the former vice president and longtime senator has repeatedly deployed over the years to convince swing voters that the GOP isnt for them anymore.
This is not your fathers Republican Party, Biden said campaigning for a Senate candidate in 2018. They are not who we are. They are not who America is. Not with their phony populism or fake nationalism.
This is not your fathers Republican Party, he said in 2011. This is a different breed of cat.
Todays Republican Party is not your fathers Republican Party, Biden said in 2010. Its the party of the tea party. Im not questioning their integrity. Im questioning their judgment.

OP
That line didn't work for Claire McCaskill or Joe Donnelly in 2018. And it didn't work in 2014.

We have been assured by Joe Biden that once he is in office, Republicans will have an epiphany.

I have been listening to him. There's no way to appeal to Republicans without sacrificing everything

The line is so old that by now Biden should be saying it's not your grandfather's Republican Party.
