In reply to the discussion: Elizabeth Warren Quietly Moves Into Second Place [View all]Drunken Irishman
(34,857 posts)39. I agree but first impressions are huge in politics.
A lot of Americans' first impression of Howard Dean was the Dean Scream and even today, it dominates his perception even though it's a very small aspect of who he is, or what kind of campaign he ran.
Some politicians can overcome bad first impressions. Bill Clinton was largely introduced to the nation via his affair with Gennifer Flowers. Of course, his response probably aided him - but he overcame it to win the primary and then the general.
It remains to be seen if Warren can overcome that or if it'll play a larger role in a campaign where she's more visible.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

Warren is a better salesman for the progressive agenda. Bernie has not evolved as a campaigner

Great for Warren! If given the chance to speak, she's going to do well in the debates...

Yes I was surprised she could not defend herself as vigorously as she defended Bill.

I suspect that it is always easier to defend someone else - especially some one you love or admire

Warren or Buttigieg. I prefer Buttigieg, but Warren is more likely, and my second choice.

Polls generate interest but are pretty meaningless until after the first debate.

She is like the perfect school principle, the one who refused to leave anyone behind.
