(37,648 posts)It's not that a candidate is older (in his 60s). It's that he really is "getting on in years," as they say. No one has ever been elected President at Biden's age (he'll be 77 at election time, 81 at end of 4 years). Reminder: Reagan was 70, was re-elected at 74, and had the symptoms of Alzheimer's such that they couldn't hide it well in his second term. Was it wise for him to run for re-election?
It's not being mean or discriminatory to Biden. It really is a valid issue to many people. But it looks like he's going to be the nominee, so it is what it is. They'll keep his forgetfulness and other things a secret as much as they can, like they did for Reagan. But be aware, since he'll be vulnerable to being easily manipulated. Jill, nice and protective as she is, may not be an iron maiden like Nancy Reagan, who I think was able to keep the bears at bay.
When Reagan testified before Congress on the Iran-Contra Affair, he said "I don't remember" to many questions. People thought he was lying, but as it turned out, he probably really didn't remember much of what had happened.
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
