It appears as though Trump has turned off a significant number of "swing" voters (i.e., people who did cast a ballot for him last time but aren't reliably Republican voters). Biden, I suspect, would be a comfortable option for such people. He's a known quantity, has experience, and as far as I know isn't proposing any new, untested policies that might make some people nervous. And there's no doubt that Biden, if he is the nominee, will have solid support from the party.

As to whether he is the most likely of the current candidates to beat Trump, I can't say. I think he could win, but I suspect that outcome would be more about people voting against Trump, as opposed to people being excited about a Biden presidency.

What worries me is what could happen four or eight years after that. If Biden wins, how will he govern? Unless a Biden presidency represents a significant departure from his career to date, I think we could see the same kind of resentments fester and flare that allowed Trump to get in the White House.

Anyway, just my thoughts - I don't claim any special ability to predict the future - and while my opinion is different from yours, I do respect your take and I'm always reconsidering and revising my own anyway.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
