(32,640 posts)Senator Sanders has certainly endorsed candidates who got big donations from wealthy, out of state individual donors (not ordinary people), so clearly that's not something he thinks is a disqualifier in a candidate:

Our Revolutions was set up with a 501(c)(4) status. That categorization meant it would be able to accept large contributions from anonymous donors. They are not legally compelled to be transparent as to where the money came from. It's helpful if the are, but as recent events have shown, some organizations double down when they are shown to have volunteered only as much transparency than the law requires.
As for Unions: Do you think that the United Mine Workers are going to donate to a candidate who promotes solar and wind? Do you think the UAW will support a candidate that wants to promote public transportation?
I have a hypothetical question for you concerning benefitting from PAC spending:
If candidate A was running against candidate B in a primary, and a dark money corporate PAC from the opposing party was running ads against candidate B in states where candidate A wasn't doing well, would you say that candidate A was benefitting from the spending the of the opposing party corporate PAC?
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
