7. There was a time when that statement would have rankled me

"We must all become Globalists now."

But over the years and particularly since Trump has been squatting in the White House, we can see vividly what happens when the United States withdraws from global issues--the rise of nationalists, populists and thugs. Doesn't mean we were always exemplary in our involvements but pulling into our national shell (beyond corrupt money-making schemes by the Orange one) has had dire consequences, here and abroad.

There's no putting the genie back in the bottle. We are part of a global community and as you clearly stated, the most important issues of the day are global in nature.
