(4,558 posts)There is refusal by word, and refusal by deed. No, BS has not openly refused. His actions through years of delay speak otherwise, so I'm sticking with "refused" as the appropriate action verb here. You may choose to ignore it, and you may even choose consider it completely unimportant. Others do.
Sorry, but a 2014 single year release of just the 1040 + 2 page summary don't qualify as a partial release in my book. Again, you are fully within your own right to disagree. By the way, it was 2014, not 2015.
But, let's talk about that one, and the bitty bit of info in it.. since you raised it:
Declared (but not detailed) income of $205,617. Congressional salary $174,000. Unspecified itemized deductions of $56,377. Paid an income tax rate of only 13.4%. This was several years after Jane's Burlington thing (don't worry, I'll follow the rules and not go into details on that here, but do know, tRumpublicons won't be so kind), so she wasn't working at that time (or if she was, I haven't found any reference to it on a search, but I'm okay if that's the variance). Where'd the extra $31,617 come from? Stocks? Bonds? A Russian Oligarch purchasing property from him at an inflated price? A side Job Jane was working? What are all the deductions about? So, no, many of us don't accept that lone, cherry-picked year in limited form as an actual release. this may very well be a HUGE, overblown nothing burger.. it may be very revealing. Hard to know, now, isn't it?
Now, on to your dear concerns about my grasp of fallacies.
The post I responded to was comparing the birther demands to these tax return demands. That, by the full definition IS a false equivalence, and for the VERY reasons I specified. The post I responded to may have been "sarcasm" as well, but my association of it as a false equivalence argument remains spot on.
Perhaps it is YOU who need to learn the difference?
I will say, it is most interesting that you bring into the conversation that 45 has likewise not released his tax returns. Are you equating things 45 does to things BS does? We may have some common ground after all! Are you implying that it's okay that BS didn't because 45 didn't? So sorry, but we'll have to agree to disagree. See, to me, it's equally unacceptable. Especially since both seem to have soooo many questions and media attention and public figures who've focused on them for those returns. What are THEY hiding??
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
