(12,332 posts)And as such, he feels like he knows what everyone else needs or wants. He is so good at articulating his opinion that he has a column in the New York Times and several best selling books under his belt.
But he's not an oracle. He isn't some kind of medium channeling the spirit of the electorate and delivering us a message from the great beyond. That's Williamson's role.
Friedman is just an opinion columnist.
If we were to take marching orders from columnists, we would be trying to head in every direction at once without getting anywhere.
The primaries are an opportunity for people to try and convince people across the country that they are the best nominee for the party. I place more trust in our base than a lot of people on DU seem to. I think we should let the process play out, and that includes a rigorous debate about where we want to take the country and the party.
This next election will be different from anything we have experienced. The standard bearer for our party has a hard task ahead of them. Columnists like Friedman are living in the past. We need a candidate that can inspire people to dream of a better tomorrow.
