(7,509 posts)The woman was anonymous and Franken still does not remember the incident. He speculated that it may have been a misunderstanding (this was in 2006 when he was still a comedian) and that he may have given her a hug and when she balked, he might have said "that's what we do in show business."
Franken categorically denies the woman's claim that he said he tried to kiss her, then followed up by saying "It's my right as an entertainer."
When Mayer asked that woman if there was a chance Franken made a clumsy thank-you gesture, the woman replied "Is there a difference? If someone tried to do something to you unwanted?"
So I'll concede that people should not invade people's personal space without consent. But was that action enough to put him out of a job?
"I didn't end his Senate careerhe did!" said the woman.
Not only do I think this account was, at best, embellished to be most damaging to Franken (people who know him, women who have worked with him from his SNL days to his time as a Senator, say he would never act that way) she has no perspective on proportionality.
