In the OP, I noted that no Democratic candidate is pushing "open borders". Democrats and progressives are pushing for decriminalizing crossing the border without papers. Nonetheless, Trump and Bernie used the coded language of "open border policies" to attack Democrats. This talking point is designed to tap into racial resentment. Look at this thread where some folks immediately attack "open border" policies, when the OP states that no Democrat supports an open border. My point is that attacks on "open border policies" is coded , dog whistle language that candidates should refrain from using.
