(13,017 posts)"that's what the American people are saying" is a different phrase. The meaning and the effect and the history are not the same.
Also, I never said he never, in his entire political life, ever used the phrase "some say" or "some people say" -- I don't know whether he did or not, and it doesn't matter. We're talking about this particular instance. It's also important to note that the phrase was not as "toxic" and infamously bad until people really started to become aware of how often Fox used it, and articles were written about how it is a dodge to lend fake credibility to something, to raise an accusation without taking personal responsibility for it. And that is decidedly NOT what Sanders was doing when he said "that's what the American people are saying."
