(54,657 posts)As I age, I am surprised how wisdom snowballs. It grows exponentially. Things are connected that I never knew were connected. I am able to draw together disparate pieces of information from distinct areas of knowledge, and synthesize them.
Older politicians understand how fierce their opposition will be, and they know how to scheme and plan and maneuver, and what to do about it. Younger politicians with a dream in their eye think everything runs on the up and up, that of course everyone is patriotic, and cannot be subverted from that ideal.
Read David McCulloch's "John Adams". The depth of his insight in the papers he left to posterity rings to this day. It's going to take wisdom and experience to solve this crisis. Democrats need to be wise to the lay of the landscape. It takes wisdom.
