(2,294 posts)a well functioning democracy requires an informed, thinking citizenry -- who vote! Too many who vote for the person with the best early poll numbers are voting scared, thinking only about poll numbers. That's how John Kerry got the nomination, in my opinion. People thought it extremely important to beat Bush/Cheney. They watched poll numbers and followed the crowd. But Kerry lost.
The country is one-third independent. Independents intend to vote for the best candidate. We must ensure that we have a great candidate. The good news is that this year we have a bunch of excellent candidates running.
People on this forum will vote for the Dem at the rate of about 99.9%, I am sure. Who will the independents vote for? The good news again is that independents will have a difficult time voting for Trump.
