(9,688 posts)Appeals to moderates as well as progressives (essential!), and thus electable.
Has bold ideas, but a moderate, straight-arrow persona.
Wise and mature beyond his years, while stilll offering fresh perspective.
Can deliver a tough message but one infused with hope and good sense.
Smartest guy in the room, but not condescending; effortlessly connects the dots, drawing on astonishing breadth of knowledge, and boiling it all down into an accessible and sensible message.
To my knowledge, has never had to walk back a misstatement.
Has excellent judgment and can think on his feet.
Picks great people as staff.(another essential quality!)
Seems to get under MF45's skin. : )
Has unquestioned integrity.
Listens to people.
Good with children and dogs. (sounds like a weird criterion, but it's a key litmus test for me in judging character).
Has a ready wit.(essential survival skill!).
Will have the energy and stamina to serve 8 full years at full throttle*
* This last quality is to me essential! The next president will be facing what is already a national (and international) emergency.
This seems to me no time for a caretaker or "transitional" president.

Many of our candidates have many of the qualities I've listed above- we are indeed lucky to have a talented "bench"this time around; and (ok, with a few exceptions), I wouldn't mind any of them as the GE nominee. But to my mind, Buttigieg is just better than the rest.
He has ann uncanny way to getting right to the core of an issue and explaining it to voters, often on the spur of the moment, in an accessible way
and
he has a broader and deeper and more integrated vision than anyone. (And see above for the rest).
Most of our candidates are excellent; but, for me, Pete is the man of the hour. Every time I hear him speak, I just hear a president.
OK, infomercial over.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
