At the start of hearings before his committee on July 31, 2002, Biden stated, One thing is clear: These weapons must be dislodged from Saddam, or Saddam must be dislodged from power. If we wait for the danger from Saddam to become clear, it could be too late.
And a full year after it became apparent that Iraq didnt actually have these weapons or weapons systems, Biden insisted that he still didnt regret voting to give the President the authority to use force in Iraq. I still believe my vote was just.
Despite arms control analysts and former U.N. inspectors informing Biden that Iraq had achieved at least qualitative disarmament, Biden continued to falsely claim everyone in the world thought he had them.
