(5,075 posts)While it may be true that SOME UAW workers wouldn't support Medicare for all, as opposed to the plans they currently have under UAW contracts, its important to remember another fact-
and that is that there aren't anywhere NEAR as many UAW workers covered by those plans as there used to be.
Total Union membership in Michigan is only 14.5% of the workforce, and that is ALL Unions. UAW only makes up a small percentage of that number.
In short, there are far more people who don't have any insurance, or who are on poor plans, that would greatly benefit from Medicare for All, than there are UAW members of the Big Three auto makers, who have decent insurance coverage.
