(43,309 posts)from decades ago; it pigeon holes them in entirely different social and political contexts today. It implies that lefties can't evolve. (I remember enough about those days to know that Biden was as normal as Democrats got back then. You're mistaken about Biden. He has changed. A lot.)
It's as if we could never have let Obama "evolve" on same sex marriage or marijuana. But we did, and he did. Progressives aren't purists, and neither are liberals.
I'm watching what the state primary results are, because the rest of the country -- Democrats in the rest of the country, for that matter -- isn't necessarily like us around here. I'm left of Bernie. I was a social democrat before he even got to Congress, supported him in the last primaries, voted Hillary yada
yada.
Thinking about the general election ahead, I'll take the imperfectly good candidate that carries a solid black and women's vote over a candidate who hits all my progressive buttons. I also don't buy that lesser of two evils claptrap.
My intense support for Inslee still exists for all the reasons I laid out months ago in Candidate Groups and Democratic Primaries OP's then. I still expect his getting a cabinet post if we win the presidency and Senate.
Thanks for your thoughtful post.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
