(4,035 posts)I jumped and fell right on my forehead when I was 6, and went running up to my dad crying as I also scraped my knee. As he was cleaning the scrape, he looked up, saw my goose egg, grabbed me and my brother and hauled me to the ER. (My mom was out, hence he couldn't leave my brother home alone.) I wasn't even bleeding, as the skin hadn't split, but he knew hitting your head wasn't to be trifled with! I got an x-ray for my trouble, and the doctor told my dad I was lucky I hit my forehead and not my temple, as if I had hit that soft spot with that kind of force, I'd most likely be dead. As it was, I actually cracked my forehead bone, and I have a bump there to this day. That's because the bones in your head don't grow together like other bones; instead, the body "plasters" over the crack with more bone. Of course, at 6 my skull was a lot softer than an adult's, but on par in vulnerability with an elderly man, I would guess.
(I actually stopped wearing bangs because every time people got a glimpse of my forehead they'd exclaim in worry, thinking I just recently hit myself. Now I always have my hair scraped back, and no one reacts anymore, they're so used to seeing the bump.)
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
