(220 posts)a bigger margin of victory (and maybe raise a lot of money). But many of the DU members overlook what happens after the victory. Biden will have a wealth of choices from which to make appointments in his administration. I think Kamala Harris would make a GREAT AJ. She worked in the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2004, she was elected District attorney of San Francisco. Harris was narrowly elected as California's Attorney General in 2010 and was reelected in 2014 by a wide margin. And she would be in a good position to run for President in 2024. Biden has said he would only seek one term.
I think Warren or Bernie would be good Sec. of State. Both are well known and respected by world leaders, have some foreign policy experience and neither would be afraid to stand up to autocratic regimes. Either one would have the good sense to keep us out of war.
Klochabar, Stacy Abrams, Buttegeig, Inslee, Booker and Castro would likely be offered cabinet positions or other high offices. Joe would be a mentor to all of them, teaching them more about governing. Some more will probably enter the race and some in that crowded field will certainly rise to the top becoming shining stars. Working under Biden, known for being a team player, would certainly teach them all a lot. It is an opportunity that could benefit the Democratic Party for years to come.
I would like to see some non candidates appointed to different offices. Though it is not likely that DU member would agree with me I would like to see a couple of Republicans, John Kennedy, Senator from Louisiana and John Kasich, former Governor of Ohio. They are not Tea Party Republicans, both have stood up to Trump at times and seem to have some common sense. Bringing them into the fold would go a long way in healing divisions in our country.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
