(15,369 posts)same points that have persuaded me that she is indeed the best candidate for 2020 ... and we have a LOT of good ones!
I am a 75-year-old woman who has had several career incarnations throughout my life: Peace Corps Volunteer where I taught English as a Foreign Language to secondary students; an elementary school teacher abroad; a teacher of French at the secondary level in the US; an international development worker (with USAID); an attorney with a private law firm in the US; an attorney with the USG; and, until my "official" retirement, I was an attorney managing programs and international staff within international organizations. Following that "official" retirement, I taught university students focusing on international business as an associate professor. I finally completely retired three years ago. I miss interacting with the students - they helped keep me young.
I truly identify with so much in Elizabeth's life - early marriage, divorce, raising my children on my own (with family help) for some years and ultimately meeting a second husband with whom I have shared 38+ years - and many of her ideas mirror my own in many ways, although hers are much more focused, developed and thought-out. I respect and admire her. Enormously.
I have been a lifelong Democrat. But her epiphany in choosing to become a Democrat is actually one of her most appealing facets for me.
To me, once she identifies a problem, she thinks it through, thoroughly researches it, and can explain it cogently and with simplicity. Most importantly, she is able to inspire like-minded people into helping her hone and refine her ideas so that the problem can be addressed in the best possible fashion, viz., her creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau practically from scratch.
From me, you will hear mostly pro arguments. Yes, she needs more seasoning in foreign affairs and other areas. But she is able to see the Big Picture and to inspire others to see it too. That is why I am a committed supporter.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
