(54,770 posts)Most people are not going to accept a single payer system being crammed down their throats if they don't know enough about it to know if they want it.
Most people would be glad to consider a public option -- with all details spelled out -- in comparison to health plans they are familiar with. If a public option is anywhere near as good as we think, they'll gravitate to it quickly.
It would really help if Sanders and Warren were to tell people what they will have to pay in taxes or premiums. They know taxes will have to go up -- supposedly replacing premiums and out-of-pocket costs -- but they can't tell us what we will pay.
One reason they can't do that is that they have other proposals that will require taxes to increase such as: bolstering Social Security, college debt, "free" college, child care, climate change, infra structure, etc. The top 1% aren't going to pay for all that because their wealth is mostly on paper.
