(7,947 posts)If the Russians are actively trying to disrupt the Democratic Party by pushing a candidate, I sure want to know. I do understand that a candidate can't always choose their supporters-- I mean, David Duke will endorse you whether you want it or not-- but if it happens, first, frankly, a truly loyal candidate would withdraw rather than allow the Russians in to the campaign. (Or at least loudly denounce it.)
We just need to be aware of how drastically the Russians want to interfere. It's so weird that for all those years of the USSR, there was this constant fear of "communist infiltration." There were powerful indications, for example, that the CIA was riddled with infiltrators. And it wasn't until Russia wasn't communist that they actually managed to infiltrate the White House.
