most are people who are hurting, they’re worried about their kids, they’re working longer hours for lower wages ...

You know who else are hurting, worri d a out their kids, working longer hours for lower wages and want an economy that works for them? Black people. Yet we didn't vote for Trump.

Economic anxiety doesn't explain Trump support. If that were the reason, it wouldn't have been only white people supporting him. Black people would have gotten behind him, too.

But people with that shared interest voted very differently, so that particular factor is a common denominator that canceled itself out when it came to voting in 2016. White working class people had a reason for voting for Trump that was enough to keep black people away from him in droves. And for most of them, that reason had nothing to do with economics.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
