Now that Im on Medicare, my coverage is just as good and costs no more than I was paying with employer insurance. And I know that I will not lose coverage. A few times during my working career, I worked as an independent contractor. Health insurance was a constant worry, and most of the time all I could afford was catastrophic coverage, not regular health care. We have a system that doesn't work for everyone and the most expensive drugs in the world. If Warren adds information on a transition period where the uninsured are covered first and the age lowered for Medicare, her plan could work. What naysayers forget is that employer health care is not free, plus drug costs and copays can add up.
