Democratic Primaries
In reply to the discussion: I think the Biden doing an early VP pick is a lot of hot air [View all]LovingA2andMI
(7,006 posts)IF Joe Biden picks Stacey Abrams as his VP, other candidates might want to prepare to step out of the race (they do have the right to stay in but, they will likely be beat in the primary with this team) -- as the only two others that can match this ticket is Kamala Harris and Pete Bettigieg -- which could be billed as the alternative progressive ticket and could have a equal if together chance to win the Democracy 2020 Primary.
Have met BOTH Stacey Abrams (who is awesome, period) and Peter Bettigieg (who is equally, awesome) and BOTH of these VP Candidates if they were to become such, can carry a room, crowd, large audience or coliseum if need be, with their overarching passion for issues that impact everyday lives.
Yes, Elizabeth Warren is Real Good, as in an aspect Cory Booker. Bernie Sanders IMHO has a base but the leftovers from 2016 will not disappear to bring him to win the Democratic Primary, no matter who he might choose as is V.P.
Biden has a base (Baby Bloomers, Some Generation Xers -- Not All as some still remember His questionable questioning of Anita Hill). However, bring Stacey Abrams on his ticket does a big leap to right that past wrong in the minds of SOME Generation Xers (the ones that would not support him otherwise). Equally, Stacey reaches Millennial's and enough Gen Zers in the South. Biden needs Alabama or Georgia or both of them to secure a win over Drump. Stacey can bring that.
Meanwhile, Kamala has California and a growing number of the African-American base leaning her way in the Boomer and Generation Xer base. More Gen Xers African-Americans were comfortable with her since her appearance on "The Morning Show" where she discussed support for reparations and she opened ears of the younger African-American base that listens to The Morning Show, Millennial's for being First Out The Gate with this important issue for many of them.
Next, Kamala has a good rapport among a growing base of Democrat and Left Lending Women. This is a base she must carry. Adding the Western States (California, Washington State, Oregon, New Mexico and Maybe Colorado and Arizona) helps her big time BUT -- she must win a large chunk of Caucasian Males and the Midwest.
That is where Pete steps in. He is dynamic in person and whip smart. He knows the Midwest and will do well in Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and -- his home base of Indiana where folks love Pete. He also has a firm lock on the LGBT Community as well as the Millennial non-minority base -- once they hear him talk about the issues.
Again: Biden/Abrams and Harris/Buttigieg -- Either ticket would be hard as hell for Drump/Enabler Pence to over come and we could vote for EITHER of these tickets.
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
