(13,053 posts)I didn't like when Harris and Booker went after Biden with similar shots, and I liked that Biden didn't engage in that sort of thing. By "similar shots" I mean, it's nothing based on the current policy positions or the like, but rather a critique of something in the past, and perhaps in a way to imply something not quite true.
In this case, as has been discussed here before, Sanders did suggest that primarying Obama might be a good thing, but not for the purpose of replacing Obama on the ticket, but rather to counter the forces that were pulling him to the right by providing some pressure from the left as well. Sanders wanted some force to start to pull Obama to the left because he seemed to be looking to appease the right. Remember chained CPI? Raising the Medicare age to 67? BS was looking to make a statement and exert political pressure from the other side. You might not agree with the tactic, of suggesting it could be good if he were to be primaried, but it was not said in an attempt to actually prevent Obama from being re-elected, which is the implication if you don't know the context.
