Lots of times companies pick what are called celebrity board members. A person doesn't have to have knowledge of the particular business to sit on a board. Also many different skills can be used. For example a Yale graduate lawyer in a high powered law firm (Boies Schiller Flexner ..yes that Boies as in David Boies ).

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
