My working hypothesis remains that there is no disqualifying characteristic, regardless of what you ask about. There are people who believed Trump was unfit to be President and voted for him in spite of or even because he was unfit.

This work in favor of Democrats as well. Ralph Northam's approval ratings declined to 39% after his scandal, but a plurality wanted still wanted him to stay. More black voters than white voters wanted him to stay.

So based on that sort of dynamic, if he can make it through the primary, it won't be an issue in the general. Rather, the lesson from both Trump and Northam seems to be that you just have to keep sailing along as if it doesn't matter. Because it actually doesn't.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
