often times these "votes" are of little or no importance .. and their staff are making sure they're available for the ones that count. You can make a case for anyone who's actively campaigning not being on hand for day-to-day "breaking eggs, and making omelets" (i.e., legislating) .. but the old metric of "missed votes" has always been a bit of political canard.
