(61,003 posts)On many issues, Warren impressed me a lot - especially on her genuine fight against corruption and the work she did on the consumer bureau. I "chose" Warren for a few months earlier this year after reading what was supposed to be a position paper on trade, where she did not seem completely against trade deals. One reason I became undecided again, was that she seemed to move back to the left on this and because she initially insisted that we had to go immediately to MFA -- which would never pass Congress. Her current position - ignoring messaging - is no different than that of Biden, Klobuchar, Mayor Pete etc.
Lost in the noise is the fight against corruption. In fact, the nonsense of the attacks on others raising money to fight the primaries, made her look hypocritical - on an issue where she is likely very sincere. The problem is the NEED to raise huge sums to have a chance to run for President. She, as a Senator with $10 million in her Senate campaign account, can take a high road not available to others.
In a way, THAT seemed to a limited degree like what troubled me about HRC when she went from being for TPP in 2013 and 2014 (including in her Goldman Sachs speeches - when she was NOT in the Obama administration, then changing to being against it. The 2 arguments from her team - that when she was for it, it was as a team player in the Obama administration and that the terms became worse are simply not true and not believable. As a Democrat, I was still going to vote in the 2016 general election- and vote for her. What it did though was to further decrease my opinion of her.
With Warren, that stupid brouhaha unfortunately hits at one of her major strengths - her honesty, integrity and the genuineness of her fight against corruption. As the primaries go on, I might return to actively supporting Warren - No candidate is ever going to be what anyone thinks is perfect. (A 30 year younger John Kerry - with all his accomplishments as SoS might come close, but is not possible.)
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
